Science Fiction – Double Feature
Dr. X will build a creature

Yes we are back with our ode to the Rocky Horror Picture Show.  This time with the feature Doctor X.  Frankly until my friend introduced me to the movie I didn’t know it existed.  I’m also not a hundred percent sure this is what they are referring to in the song or if they mean a character from another movie.  To explain why would be spoilerific.

So here is what I will tell you.   Doctor X is about this horrible serial killer that the newspapers have dubbed the Moon Killer because the brutal attacks occur during the full moon.  And by brutal I mean among other things cannibalism.  Doctor Xavier ( Lionel Atwill) is convinced that one of his colleagues is the murderer and sets about finding out the truth through an experiment.  This experiment involves hooking up his colleagues to an elaborate lie detector type machine and reenacting the murder scenes in front of them with the help of his daughter Joanne (Fay Wray) and his house servants.

More mystery and thriller than horror, it is still a really good movie.  The experiment scenes are particularly intense and the small bits of comic relief from the maid and the newspaper reporter are balanced enough to not take away from the overall feel of the movie.  You could always pair it with King Kong for a Fay Wray double feature.
