Who’s Your Monkey is about four friends Hutto (David DeLuise), Laith (Scott Michael Campbell), Bobby (Jason London) and Mark (Scott Grimes), who have been friends for as long as they can remember and always drop everything when one of them is in trouble. This is hilarious because they are having enough trouble dealing with their own day to day problems. Hutto, the most functional of the bunch, and his wife are expecting their first child. Laith has the a gorgeous girlfriend that is obviously out of his league and everything was fine until he found something of hers in the shower. Bobby is an alcoholic, most likely self medicating from the death of his girlfriend almost two years ago, he still goes at night to sleep on her grave. And then there’s Mark, the brilliant OB/GYN who can’t practice because he can’t afford the malpractice insurance. So instead he make meth for Reed (Kevin Durand), a thug who besides drug dealing also runs an animal pornography outfit. That’s where the monkey comes in. Don’t worry thankfully they don’t show anything. One day Reed comes over for his supply and through an ensuing fight Mark accidently kills him. So he calls up his buddies for help in getting rid of the body.
Now luckily this is just not a let’s hide the body comedic hijinks movie otherwise it would be boring. But it is actually more of a coming of age story, even though the characters are thirty-somethings. It’s never too late to grow up. This movie actually reminds me a bit of The Hangover, but with less stupidity and more maturity. And as opposed to The Hangover, I laughed more during this movie.
