I am so behind. When you are in the thick of things, creating as it were, you think you have it all under control. You are seeing final products, your desk is a mess, you forget to eat, everything is fine. Right? But then you stop to take a break, clean up the debris and that’s when you realize, oh my god, when is the last time I looked at this, this, and this. Somehow I feel most creatives’ final thoughts before death is a list of projects they haven’t finished. Or maybe it just won’t matter then. At this point I’m going to have to live at least a few centuries to get the current wish list of projects completed.
Currently I’m behind 15 movie reviews, not including whatever I watch today. Look for upcoming reviews for 13 Moons, Evil Dead (2013), Do Not Disturb, Miss Nobody, Drool, Zombie Diaries, Pete Smalls is Dead, The Haunting of Whaley House, Machine Gun Preacher, 23 Minutes to Sunrise, Who’s Your Monkey?, Dead Season, Iron Man III, Prometheus, and Valiant.
Yesterday I uploaded the next chapter of my fanfic story Deeper. I also realized I hadn’t updated it in four months. FOUR MONTHS!!! The time just went whooshing by. I currently have four unfinished fanfic stories, not including the at least three started stories posted on my gigantic corkboard (it’s 8ft x 2ft). Then there is the at least one story I need to post to my new fiction press account and then there is the novel still in need of some serious editing.
Then there is the stuff I actually get paid for. Today I have three ebook covers to complete and a postcard design for a client.
Will I ever catch up, have a clean desk and corkboard? Highly unlikely, but I think it’s always good to take a moment to stop and assess; that way you know what you really haven’t done and what you would like to do.
