At the beginning of this movie I began to wonder if the title meant “Boy you are going to wonder what the heck is going on.” But I stuck with it and it became clearer, then confusing, and finally painfully clear.
In the thriller, Boy Wonder Sean Donovan (Caleb Steinmeyer) is a quiet overachieving teenager whose life was forever changed when he was nine years old. That’s when he saw his mother killed during a car jacking. When he’s not at school, or at the gym or his basement practicing his kick boxing moves, he’s at the police precinct going over mugshot after mugshot trying to find the face of his mother’s killer.
While searching through these mugshots he finds many people who got away with murder, literally. He decides to do something about it, sneaking out at night to unleash his own revenge against the scum of the streets. These crimes are mostly ignored, no one is crying over these deaths. However newly promoted detective Teresa Ames (Zulay Henao), sees a pattern and looks deeper into the situation sending her and Sean on a collision course with an ending I didn’t quite expect.
The movie is a bit slow which is not helped by the fact that the main character Sean for most part is a boy of few words. I assume that flashbacks are from Sean’s perspective so they are confusing bits and pieces at first. Also, he may or may not be having hallucinations, it’s not quite clear. I guess watching it again would help but I’m not just that interested. I would like to see Steinmeyer in another movie though, I think he’s probably a good actor but this movie just wasn’t what I wanted or expected.
