Ear worms, muses and insomnia

11 Mar

Ear worms are the universe’s way of saying, “hey you didn’t think you were actually going to sleep did you?”  Last night I had three ear worms revolving in my head, Dashboard by Modest Mouse, Runaround Sue by Dion and the Belmonts, and Boom by P.O.D.  There are logical explanations for all of them, doesn’t mean I was happy about it.

Boom has been replaced from the rotation because after a whole undisturbed hour of sleep my muse decided it was time to write. Considering my fiction muse has been on hiatus lately I was thrilled.  However, she apparently wasn’t in the mood to deal with the current pile of in-progress stories pinned to my cork board.  No she zeroes in on a post-it note of an idea I jotted down while listening to the song Heaven Forbid by The Fray.  About an hour of writing and she faded to the background but the ear worm still remains.

I guess today needs a soundtrack. It should be interesting what track is next.
