Fangirl Friday – Jason Statham

25 Jan

Jason_Statham_TIFF_2011Jason Statham may be second on my list but I’ve been following him much longer than Jeremy Renner.  From the first viewing of The Transporter, sigh, his voice, his fighting skills, even his driving, I was enthralled.  Pretty soon if it had Statham in it I was going to see it or rent it.

Now I’ll admit, Statham is not the greatest actor, although I thought he did stretch his normal persona a bit in Blitz.  But that’s not why you watch a Jason Statham movie, see previous statement.  There hasn’t been a movie that I haven’t liked him in although Crank 2: High Voltage was straining my devotion.

I’ve always been more a fan of marital art fight scenes then brutal beat-downs or just gun play.  This is something Statham excels at. Although his fight style seems to be mostly based in the martial arts, I love to watch his kicks, he’s above just bashing heads and injecting a bit of humor into his fight.

So admitting that my love of Jason Statham has crossed the border into fangirling, of course I will go watch Parker this weekend. Even if it’s a complete flop, his lovely raspy voice and his kick-ass fight moves will still make it worth it.
